Handicraft in Laos

hi guys,

remember these wooden blocks we're gonna give the kids in Laos?

As a form of cultural/gift exchange, we'd be conducting another handicraft session for the students to create something for the kids in Singapore.:)

I'm suggesting that we weave thread around pencils to form words.

(Front View of pencil-this is a present from my friend so my name's on it: ))

(Back view of pencil)

(close-up)

I've checked with my friend, it takes about 30 mins to complete a pencil, so maybe for us newbies, it'd take 1hour plus? I'm suggesting this cause:
1)I think primary school kids like such stationery.(I did then...haha.)
2)Cost is reasonable-pencils and thread
3)Easy to bring back to S'pore-not fragile.

What do you guys think? Let me know if its feasible and if it is, I'll get my friend to teach me how to do it and I will teach you guys during our next meeting on the 4th of may.

Thanks,
zhiqi

my very belated attempt at a logo :P

Hi guys,

I realise its really late to post this and fem and yy might have gone ahead with the printing, but just thot i'll post this up for comments and see if it can be used anywhere.. haah. sorry was really tied up with work and couldnt get down to doing it until late last nite!! :P

the concept is quite simple, 3 hearts cos its mettaheart III, the 'm' is actually derived from the 3 too hehe.. the vientiane laos line can be taken out if its too small to be seen.. and i realise i spelt vientiane wrongly :P

if theres no where to use this its ok! i'll treat it as my fun creative exercise. hoho.

Final Final Design!

After posting my final design, I realised I can simplify the colors even further, so here is the final final design.........pardon me for making you giddy with my logos, me feeling giddy too.....@.@

Final Design

Ok, brain is overheated....after feedbacks here and there.........here is my final version......u all see how it goes from here, I need to cool my brain down........... :P

Variations of my logo!

Hi all, I had managed to rush out a series of variations from my original design to complement with Yue Yun's design and the purple color shirt. Here they are, select your most favourite and once we had got the the design with the most votes, will send them for printing tomorrow!! Wow, racing with time..........

VOTING FOR T-SHIRT :)

Hi guys, this voting, no need to be kept a secret. ( ha-ha) Yue Yun will be heading down to Army Market this saturday to send the shirt in for printing, otherwise, we might not be able to collect the shirt in time. ( sob sob)

some specifications
1) Sizes - normal guys polo tee size, or you can give me the numbers, like 38, 40, 42. ( you can reply my phone message or send me an email to fammeiling@gmail.com)

2) we need you to VOTE, 1) Yue Yun's design or 2) charle's design and if you do want to make any suggestions, feel free to do so, we welcome feedback- but take note we are going to send it in for printing this saturday. Also, note that base colour of shirt is dark purple, so your suggestions should match this shirt base colour :)

For convenience, once again :)

*sorry meiling, i update through here la, i changed the back layout coz wrong already

Final presentation of shirt for vote

Hello...

FRONT

BACK

this is my final presentation.
The purple colour won't be this, but it's for convenience reasons thats why i used this for the illustration. The purple intended for the shirt is actually darker.

the reason why lao word is at the back is cause the project title we're doing will be distinctively projected in the front when people see us and talk to us, and the destination we're heading will thus be behind.

Good luck for exams!

Proposed Metta Heart III Logo

Dear all,

While trying to think of a suitable cover for the handbook, I came out with a logo for our project. This design was intended to be used as the handbook cover, but I had thought of another idea and is currently working on it.

Anyway, there are 2 versions of the logo:

This one is only the logo

This is the logo with our project name

The logo represents our team, together as one heart covering the area roughly where Vientiane is located. The mettaheart landed in Vientiane to spread love, kindness, and joy there :)

Any comments are welcome. I just realised we can use this logo in our shirts too! If you all are ok with it first lah :P

-Charles

merlions galore

i spotted this other painting today. they've a thing for merlions...these ones are the baby versions. they resemble kittens though, don't they? haha: ) i know we've decided that our theme wouldnt be singapore based, i'm posting these pictures so that we could perhaps get some inspiration from their backdrop, use of colours, etc.

mural painting at the void deck

Just saw the photos Charles posted: ) many pretty shots, thank you! btw, how do we save them? there seems to be only options to zoom in or out...

anyway, i walked pass this hdb flat with mural paintings at the void deck!

it's more or less done cept for the white spot of the flats in the middle. there's a notice on the wall that says that it's a collaboration between nyjc and marine parade town council. haha, if they can do it, so can we! anyway, i pass by the same place everyday on my way to the train station so i witnessed their progression. the first time i saw them in action, they had ladders and all and were drawing the outline of the picture. when i came back in the evening, the whole outline was done with pencil markings of the specific colours for each segment. they finished it in just a couple of days, definitely less than a week. impressive, right?

here's a close-up shot.

okay, happy mugging all!

love, zhiqi
